Take effective and efficient action to transform Auckland's economy
The Metro Project Action plan reflects a widely held view that strengthened regional governance and a high degree of public-private sector collaboration are essential if Auckland is to successfully transform its economy.
It is in the cities that significant progress will be made addressing; economic, social and environmental issues.
Auckland, as New Zealand's largest city, is home to one-third of the country's population. If Auckland does not lift its economic performance or address its social issues this will have a disporportionate impact on New Zealand's performance as a nation.
Around the world there is growing recognition that successful city-regions are central contributors to thriving nations. Auckland's success is New Zealand's success.
