Auckland's finance and business services sector is a major employer in the region and provides services to companies located throughout New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region.

Auckland is New Zealand's finance and insurance hub. Most major international banks have a presence in Auckland and though the stock exchange is based in the capital, Wellington (www.nzx.co.nz), the vast majority of commercial deals are brokered in Auckland.

The sector is a significant employer encompassing property, insurance, banking and business services across New Zealand, Australia and Asia.

Auckland's business environment is supported by a strong network of providers including incubators for start-up companies, venture and angel capital providers, as well as strong business consulting and accountancy services.

As a result Auckland has built a strong reputation as a great place to start or grow a business.
