New Zealanders are highly creative people. Like the rest of the country, Auckland is enjoying the limelight as a result of its international success, which has created the perfect setting and impetus to accelerate the growth of this industry.
Within Auckland there is a diverse range of companies working in the various creative sectors - film, television, advertising, multi media games, music and fashion design. Most of these businesses are small compared to global competitors, but are recognised for being flexible, creative and unique - willing to compete with the best and the rest of the world. The creative sector is an investment opportunity waiting to be grasped.

- The creative sector’s stand - alone contribution to Auckland city’s GDP is estimated at $1.17 billion for 2003
- The design sub sector contributes to 5,400 FTE’s followed by 3,480 FTEs (full-time equivalents) in screen production and radio and 2,785 in publishing. These three sub sectors make up more than 85% of the creative sector's employment.
- Auckland city has the largest number of people employed in the creative industries - three times more than in Wellington city and over four times more than in Christchurch city.
