Regional Visitor Strategy

The development of a regional visitor strategy aims to position Auckland as a more ‘visitor friendly’ destination, where people can experience a range of unique and authentic places and spaces.

As the strategy will not be implemented by any one agency it has been developed as an investment proposition. Entitled Bringing the World to Auckland: The case for investment in Auckland’s visitor economy, it is designed to stimulate discussion and inform decisions a number of agencies will make on their investment in Auckland’s visitor economy.

Bringing the World to Auckland identifies the actions and investments recommended if the region is to maximise the visitor industry’s economic benefits. It focuses on ensuring that marketing and product development efforts attract higher-spending, longer-staying visitors rather than simply focusing on increasing overall visitor numbers.

The strategy also proposes that implementation is facilitated by an umbrella agency will make Auckland more ‘visitor friendly’. Ultimately it will be regarded the world over as a destination that delivers experiences that are unique, authentic and consistent with a cohesive and compelling essence.
